Since ubuntu 12.10 can't work by this driver because EXA but this driver XAA.
Slitaz 4 can't work by this driver because different location of the driver.
Sorry, my english is bad (google translate).
I am a tester not a maintainer.
32bits recommended.
Good luck.
Excellent solution to my problem. It worked on my Ausu K50C notebook - has SiS video chipset, and 1366x768 screen resolution. I am running Fedora 20 i686 (32-bit). This method described in the post fixed the display to correct pixels and aspect ratio.
BalasHapusI had tried a similar fix but it hung the computer during boot time. To restore to bootable condition, the Fedora Live Desktop DVD is booted then using su (superuser) the incorrect /etc/x11/xorg.conf file is renamed to xorg.conf.old. This restored the system to bootable and subsequently Wayan Lukito's fix can be applied.
Thanks for the report
HapusIf you're trying to boot from a live cd or usb, you can test "driver VGA SiS".
1. Insert disk CD/DVD or USB.
2. Boot from CD/DVD or USB.
3. Install sisimedia_drv.so (driver SiS) and xorg.conf (configuration xorg).
4. After Instalation and then logout
5. Wait for a moment and tra.. daa...
sorry my english is bad.

BalasHapusWuih... laptopnya masih hidup ya..., punya saya sudah rusak hard dish dan cd rom nya.
Tried many systems. This graphic card is suck...
BalasHapusYour way is working in 1,18-1,19 xorg versions but i couldnt in 1,20 version. I hope i buy New laptop :) thanks anyway. Now im use win8. 1 single language with 1366x768 and Lubuntu 16.03 (xorg ver 1,19) 1366x768.
My tries:
Windows 7-8.1-10
Lubuntu
Xubuntu
Peppermint
Linux Mint
Zorin os lite
Mx Linux
Pop os
Manjaro
Pisi linux
Puppy Linux (only i can start 1024x768 with puppy)
Knoppix
This work only in Lubuntu with 1,19 xorg version
if you use ubuntu with a version of xorg above 1.13 or above, use "xorg-server 1.13.x" or above, use "xorg.conf non 1366x768", you will get a resolution of 1280x800 cmiiw
HapusIt worked for Puppy Linux, bionicpup64 8.0 (64bit). Following exactly your instructions, first options; no need for alternatives.
BalasHapusxorg-server 1.19.x (64bits)
xorg.conf non 1366x768
N.B.: I have the distro fully installed in my HD, which is not common for Puppy Linux.
Thank you very much, Mr Wayan!
You're welcome
Hapus
